Indicator Phrasing

INDICATOR PHRASING: The number of written submissions made in order to influence decision makers

What is its purpose?

Demonstrates influence, number of written submissions such as reports/briefings/letters, produced to influence policy makers and decision makers. Produced by Tearfund, or supporters, allies and partners where our input can be attributed. A policy maker or decision maker is someone who is able to approve and/or implement the public policy or practice change you are seeking to influence.

How to Collect and Analyse the Required Data

As your organisation produces and submits papers/ reports/ briefings/letters, note and count them in a spreadsheet or directly on Tearfund’s Track system.

Disaggregate by

If you want internally to disaggregate this you could into different types of written submissions. But as an indicator it is more useful to count them together.

Important Comments

This indicator is mainly for policy submissions, letters to officials or ministers, etc - not petitions which are counted under simple campaign actions.
